Born in 1941, Jean-Claude Séris trained at the École des Beaux-Arts and completed an internship in Ratilly in 1974. The following year, he settled in Tonneins near Agen, where he devoted himself primarily to the invention of forms developed for the art of ikebana, notably under the influence of the Sogetsu school, of which he is a certified member. He has taught ikebana since 1984.
